Last week I had the huge pleasure of chatting with Joe Praska and Kalid Hussein on their brilliant Frankenstein’s Podcast. I’m a huge Ray Harryhausen fan, and we talked about one of my favourite Harryhausen movies: Clash of the Titans (the 1981 original, not the 2010 remake abomination).
If you’ve not come across Frankenstein’s Podcast yet, check it out! It’s a fortnightly film discussion podcast where Joe and Kalid chat with special guests about creature-features, and sci-fi and horror movies featuring monsters and supernatural beasts.
If you’re new to the podcast, there’s a big back catalogue to explore, including lots of my favourite 1980s classics such as Gremlins, Labyrinth, They Live, Beetlejuice and The Golden Child. There’s also a brilliant nine-episode celebration of Godzilla’s 70th birthday – Kaijubilee. And if you’re a fan of the Alien universe (like me), then there’s an eight-part Xenomania series. It’s a monstrous treasure chest. I love it.
Thanks to Joe and Kalid for inviting me on, and for saying lovely things about my new book, The Universe Delivers the Enemy You Need, and to artist Jim Tandberg who illustrates a poster for every episode. Look at the one his did for this Clash of the Titans episode – isn’t it awesome?!
